Improv vs. Choreography

 

It’s not a competition.

Belly dance is a lot like cooking.
You can follow a recipe (a choreography), or add a pinch of this and a dash of that (improv).
 
 

Both approaches use the same ingredients.
Whether you plan your dance in advance or create it in the moment, you’re still using the same moves, principles, and inspiration.

So as long as you understand what you’re doing, the end result is delicious either way.
 
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m all about improv.

But even as the captain of Team Improv, I think there are benefits to both approaches.
 
So let’s make a case for BOTH improv and choreography…
