How to Create a Looping Music Track

How to Create a Looping Music Track

Does rewinding your music interrupt your practice?

When you’re working on one section of a choreography.

When you’re practicing improv, but the music keeps changing.

When you want to repeat a particular drum solo riff.

There are apps for that

Apps like Slow Down Music Trainer and Amazing Slow Downer often have a looping feature built-in.

But you can’t select the looping points as precisely as you might want.

And you can only use the loops in the app – you can’t export them to save or burn to a CD.

If those apps meet your needs, by all means use them.

But if not, you can create your own looping music tracks.

I’ll show you how:

In this screencast tutorial, we’ll cover how to create a looping music track.

You’ll learn how to make two kinds of loops:

  • A continuous loop
  • A loop with a pause between each repetition

What You’ll Need:

1) A song you want to create a loop from
(or just one to practice on)

In this tutorial, I’m using stock music by the artist dron* on Pond5.com*.

2) Audacity

This tutorial uses Audacity, which is free, open-source software, and available for Macs, PCs, and Linux.

You can download Audacity at:
