Poll: Your Dance Grandmas

I’ve had lineage on the brain lately.

 

Until a few years ago, I didn’t realize how lucky I was.

I knew what a rich treasure of knowledge and tradition my teacher had given me, passed down through her dance lineage. But I thought everybody got that.

It wasn’t until I started coaching other dancers that I realized not everyone was so lucky. (sadface) A big part of why I do what I do is to carry that torch into the next generations of dancers. (hopefulface)

And becoming a “video grandma”, as my students in Make Your First Belly Dance Video started releasing their DVDs, makes that feel even closer to my heart.
