Somebody’s Gotta Steer the Ship

Episode 26 of the Belly Dance Geek Clubhouse:
My guest, DeVilla, artistic director of troupe Isis-Siren-Sekhmet, will talk about how to run a troupe with style, grace, and ease.

You’ll learn
  • How student, amateur, and pro troupes differ – and what’s universal
  • Whose vision is this: group leadership vs. a single leader
  • Why a dance company needs to set goals and have a mission statements
  • How to style your troupe for a cohesive look
  • Why your members make or break the group – and how to choose the right ones.
  • Group finances: the money you spend, and the money you make
  • How to run productive rehearsals – and still have fun
  • How to handle crisis, drama, and conflicts (and come out of it with your troupe intact)

If you’re running a troupe, participating in one, or wondering if troupe life is for you, you need to hear this!

We’ll also have some discussion time, so you can ask DeVilla your questions.
(You can also ask anonymously, so bring your stickiest dilemmas!)

About DeVilla and Isis-Siren-Sekhmet

Elegance, grace and beautifully executed Middle Eastern Dance with an American flair are the bench mark of this L.A. based Dance Company.

Isis-Siren-Sekhmet draws upon the magic of old Hollywood and the myths of goddesses, sirens and legends to craft traditional Middle Eastern dance with their own glamorous and theatrical dance style.

DeVilla, a nationally known performer, has trained extensively with
world renowned teachers in the U.S. and in Egypt. She performs as a soloist and with her troupe Isis-Siren-Sekhmet, for whom she functions as Artistic Director. Equally at home onstage and behind the scenes, DeVilla packs a double punch by seamlessly integrating her two full time careers—professional make-up artist and professional dancer. It is for this reason that Isis-Siren- Sekhmet shows are marked by an added level of professionalism and polish.

DeVilla and Isis-Siren-Sekhmet produce their own show at Moun Of Tunis Restaurant in Hollywood the first sunday of every month and are looking forward to workshops and shows coming in the summer months of 2014 and beyond.
DeVilla teaches privately and at Dance Garden studio in LA.

Let Isis-Siren-Sekhmet lure you into the raks!
